Ever since the new year started I've been pretty much all work and no play. I'm working as an intern full time clocking in about 34 hours a week by day & a full time college student taking up to 18 credits by night, plus I work a part-time job on some weekends.
About a couple of months ago I didn't know exactly what I signed myself up for but I knew it wasn't going to come easy. I forced myself to embrace the unknown and take advantage of the opportunities that were in front of me. Sure enough I found myself busy with a heavy workload..
A lot of times we sign ourselves up for things that we weren't necessarily prepared to handle.
We're left with questions like "How am I supposed to keep up?" "What am I going to do?" or "When is this going to be over with?"
I found myself in that exact position, losing hope & worrying more about getting things done versus actually doing them. I lost a lot of faith and gained a lot of hopelessness.
I remember a saying from one of my pastors "A posture of praise will turn your test into a testimony." Through every hardship I face that quote somehow sticks with me. For me, It's impossible to stay happy, motivated & confident in my work when my spiritual life is unbalanced.
I'm reading a book and it said "The same way your body needs food, your soul needs Jesus" and that's exactly what it feels like..
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." - Proverbs 3:5-6
The moment we take things into our own hands and focus on ourselves we outweigh the other side of the scale and carry a heavier workload. The more we focus on our problems the bigger the become. I still have a hard time disciplining myself when it comes to this quote but for anyone in need I want to encourage you to allow God to move in his mysterious ways throughout your life. Tough times don't last, but tough people do.
God won't give you anything he knows you cannot handle, allow him to move through you and show you what your purpose is made of. Feed your soul with his word, make time to talk to him and grow a relationship. Continue to work hard and ask for spiritual balance in all that you do, most of all thank him for how far he has brought you.. after all It wasn't promised.

In this outfit I wanted to feel good & comfy but I wanted to make sure I looked just as good.. I wore a basic striped short sleeve button up & paired it with this turquoise Ponte zipper jacket. Keeping the zippers going I wore my low rise distressed zippered-ankle stretch Leggings. For shoes I threw on
my favorite pair of nude patent leather flats. To accessorize I wore my go-to frames, a gorgeous leopard print watch, my charm bracelet, and a simple gem necklace.

Found this gorgeous red lace sheath dress on a rack and I figured it was New Years worthy. Not only was I able to wear my favorite color but it definitely got me a lot of compliments.
Since I spent my New Years eve in the church house I made sure to cover up with this old biker jacket. To accessorize I wore a gold tapered fringe necklace and I wore my suede ankle strap block heels.

So as 2016 comes to a close, I wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year!
2016 was a tough year for me but it was probably one of the best teachers. I've grown a lot, mentally and physically and I'm ready to apply it to 2017. I know so many great things are coming my way and the only way for me to get through everything is to plan. This week I created a vision board for the very first time to serve as a physical representation of my goals&dreams.
I wanted to encourage who ever is reading this post with one word of Advice: PLAN.
If you haven't started, then you're already behind.
Ask yourself what are 5 Main goals that you want to accomplish in 2017? What steps will you take in order to accomplish those goals? and Figure out What is your why?
My main goal for 2017 is to commit to consistency in everything that I do, and I'll hold myself accountable. I've decided to add advice to my social platforms because I'm interested in telling my story while I'm on this journey. I also wanted to Thank all of my supporters thus far. I know that the best is yet to come and I'm excited to see whats in store.
I hope this year does you well, stay safe! xo Jenn

As many of you may or may not know I recently started my very first semester in college. Originally I anticipated on going to school up state but found out that I did not get accepted into the college that I wanted to attend. For some reason I wasn't as upset as I thought I would be, but I was willing to move forward with the options that I did have in front of me. I ended making the decision to attend my local community college for my first two years then transfer to a University. Fortunately enough I was able to get accepted into an amazing Business program called 'Year Up'.
Year Up is a leading one-year career development program with 250 corporate partners around the country; the program includes college-level courses, professional training, and a six-month internship
Over the past couple of months I can honestly say I've grown as an young individual spiritually, physically and even professionally. I've managed to push myself beyond my limits and I've grown to understand that the challenges I face are what contribute to my growth. I had hardworking professors behind me who were committed to making the best out of my first year college experience as long as I put in effort. After long weeks I've successfully completed my first semester off with all A's in my classes, a 4.0 GPA, and I even earned myself an Internship with JP Morgan chase.
Before August I had no idea that my first experience with college would turn out this way but because I had a growth mindset and I was willing to allow my faith steer me instead of my fears I was rewarded with more. Sometimes we think we need things & God says so otherwise. I'm learning to never put a question mark where he put a period, but instead Trust the Process!
