As a poll team member at Microsoft I help focus on building team initiative around diversity and inclusion, open communication, and team morale on a store level. Our Microsoft poll team plans events inside and outside the store, and serve as the liaison between HR and the retail store. Annually Microsoft sends out a company wide employee survey to develop an understanding of employee attitudes about about their experiences while working at Microsoft. We help take action based on results to improve employee engagement and retention to drive business success.

I had the privilege of being recognized as both Impact player and MVP. As a result I was given the prestigious opportunity to fly out to Microsoft HeadQuarters in Redmond as a  representative of my store team.

Projects:

Story Telling

I was introduced to Microsoft StoryTellers by sitting in on a conference call with Miri Rodriguez, Head of Microsoft global internship programs, she explained how she was a part of the team that initiated this role. StoryTelling in the workplace was a concept created to craft messages and narratives that help build communities and share ideas. I took on the initiative to share our story from a retail store perspective.

Happy May! (Updated)

This post is a little overdue, but I wanted to check in before mid-year and since classes and workload is slowing down this is my chance.. Really what I wanted to highlight was #MentalHeathAwarenessMonth (particularly depression), this is something that hits close to home because I know plenty of friends/family/people including myself that has or do experience low (a.k.a. depressive) points & to be quite honest I believe it happens to EVERYONE on the regular once in a while. In some cases, people have It is worse than others but I learned It is so important to be aware of your feelings and circumstances and how they affect you. This has been on my mind for some time now so I thought I’d share..

Greetings from Windy City!

Chicago, IL, USA

They say 'Volunteers do not necessarily have the time, they just have the heart'. You make a living by what you get, You make a life by what give. I had the pleasure of Spending my full Spring Break week in the infamous Windy City, Chicago, IL. With a cater towards youth development I volunteered at 826CHI, a non-profit writing, tutoring, and publishing center dedicated to amplifying the voices of Chicago's students from ages 6-18. I am eternally grateful to have been given this opportunity through Florida International University's 'Alternative Breaks' Program. More importantly, I'm glad I could assist in warming the hearts of the young and the old, while inspiring them to find their voices. Special thanks to my two amazing site leaders and team for making the experience even more rewarding! 826CHI I'll forever hold you dear to my heart.
