5 Tips for Effective Single-Tasking..

This pretty much gives you an Idea of what my week looks like and I promise I'm not just writing down nonsense..

    Ever since my senior year in High school I realized how imperative it was for me to write things down. Truth was.. I was a busy girl and I didn't have the best memory in the world. Today I thank myself for getting into the habit of planning early on because it's one of my biggest strengths. One of my favorite quotes by Benjamin Franklin is "If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!" I can't stress enough how true that quote is and how much it applies to the things we do in life. So how exactly do I plan is the question.. Here are 5 Important tips for effective single-tasking!

5 Tips for Effective Single Tasking


#1: Write it down!

As much as we have going on in our lives we only make time for the things that we want to remember. If you're like me, you assure yourself that you're going to remember everything then when the time comes you're lost & stuck or it's already too late. I encourage you to Invest in a planner/ journal or use your notes on your phone! Writing things down not only works as a gentle reminder but it helps you focus your full attention on that task! 

#2: Prioritize 

Like they say attention to detail leads to success. It doesn't matter what you do, It's how you do it. When writing down your tasks you want to think of what is important and what is not so important. If you don't prioritize, writing things down are just as good as keeping them in your head. The goal is to manage your time and to mange your time effectively. When creating your list be sure to put the things that matter the most at the top!

#3: Mentally prepare and take action, Don't Procrastinate! 

This week alone, I could not fix myself to get anything done. Lucky enough I had a three day weekend to mentally revive myself and take action. After physically writing down your tasks/goals, tell yourself that you CAN get everything done and then take that next step! Looking at all that you have to do is enough to demotivate you so reassuring yourself is the best possible solution. My best friend used to put skittles at the end of each paragraph to help her keep reading, but in the end she managed to finish that chapter! I'm a victim of procrastination myself but the more you get into the habit of just getting things done the easier it is to avoid.

#4: Cross it off!

You're almost there! Crossing things off doesn't do much but it sure does make you feel a lot better about yourself. Crossing things off your list makes you want to cross the next thing off! It does a great job at influencing you to finish what you've started. 

#5: Create a schedule and manage your time

Work can really overwhelm you if you don't find time in between to do what you like. Creating a schedule allows you to be consistent and productive. After about 2 -3 hours of studying in the library I like to grab lunch, hit the gym and head home to do the rest of my homework. Allowing yourself time to decompress is really important so set a reminder on your phone to take breaks in between.

Corporate Comfort

    For the month of October my colleagues and I were given a Business Plan project. It took us 4 long weeks of hard work, sacrifice, deadlines & dedication to get everything done. We were given the opportunity to present our project to actual corporate partners of different companies and receive the gift of feedback. 
    Usually when I'm in the presence of very important people I like to make a great first impression. Sometimes the things we wear can contribute to other's perception of you, therefore it's important to dress accordingly. In this case I decided to go with basic neutrals. I wore a black peplum top, gray cropped pants and black point toe leather pumps. As for accessories, I wore basic pearl earrings & a mini gem statement necklace. Giving you business casual and corporate comfort!

The shorter you go, The bolder you become!

    On September the 18th 2016 I decided to go for big chop #2! Originally in March of 2013 I went completely natural and cut off all my permed hair. Little did I know that was the beginning of my journey on discovering myself and embracing who I truly am. 
    I mustered up the courage to make those decisions and I have yet to regret it. In a way going natural has forced me to appreciate growth and I think that is what life is all about. Allow me to be your motivating factor to experience growth and embrace change! Start by cutting things out your life that no longer serve your purpose or contribute to your growth and make way for the things that make you happy. Remember It's a process before you see progress, so make the temporary sacrifices for the long term benefits!
